We received 200% of the normal amount of rain this month; it seemed to rain nearly every day. Obviously the plants in the garden loved it and it saved us setting up sprinklers and lugging watering cans around the garden.
When the rain did stop for a bit, butterflies like this appeared: this one was on a Sildalcea.
One of our Pineapple Guavas flowered for the first time this year, a striking flower.
Hollyhocks were resplendent, despite the rain.
Agapanthus “Charlotte” giving a good show. Charlotte always performs well.
Needless to say, Astilbes loved the wet and are still flowering as we write this at the end of the month.
Alongside the Astilbes but sheltered from the rain by a glazed overhand, the Agaves give a more exotic look to the Water Garden.
